Waiting on a Woman

I heard this song in the car for the first time today. Ok I'll give you a minute to listen to it, if you're not a country fan and haven't heard it already.

Back? Ok, so I'm sitting in the car and thinking ...hey I like this song...I wonder if my hubby has heard it...of course he has...I'm sure he knows all the damn lyrics already...how in the hell does he do that...I can't even remember my cell phone number...man I love Brad... I wish hubby had an old man to tell him that he shouldn't mind waiting on me...who am I kidding I wish I had Brad...I bet he'd wait for me without getting so pissy...Damn I love cowboys...I wonder if hubby would wear boots, if I bought him some... ooo maybe some kicker jeans... HAHA...ok no really, why do guys get so mad...if they're waiting, that means they're not helping, right?

So then I start thinking about men always complaining about waiting on women. It's total CRAP!!! You hear me guys!!! CRAP!!! Do you know why you guys are always waiting? Because women are the ones doing everything while, you are sitting your little rear ends on the bench waiting. So don't pat yourself on the backs so quickly for being good husbands and waiting patiently for us. Maybe if YOU would have called for reservations, balanced the budget to see if we have enough money, helped pack the diaper bag, cleaned up the kitchen, dressed the kids, feed the cat, turned off the T.V, turned on the alarm, and locked the doors, WE would have enough time to get dressed and not keep you waiting.

1950's Housewife Week

This week we had plumbing work done, so we were trapped housebound. Now for those of you who don't have the pleasure of knowing me in person, you must understand that being stuck at home is like... well I don't really know what it's like since I'm never home. Just the thought of it makes me want to pull my eyelashes out.

When I looked around, I realized that I was the only one who was stir crazy; the kids loved playing with .... hold on it's coming.... THEIR toys. What a novel idea. You mean I don't have to buy them new, super elaborate, not to mention expensive toys and run them all around town to playgroups and story time in order to entertain them? Damn!! Now what in the hell was I going to do? Well I decided to rewind the women's lib movement, put on my bra and apron and be a model housewife for the week. Just in case you haven't received the handbook, here's a copy.

Monday - Plumbers show up. I offer them sweet tea and chit chat for a bit. Wash, hang and fold two loads of laundry while the kids play in the yard. Hot breakfast, hot lunch and hot dinner. Stay up after everyone is in bed to prep for recipe club the next day.
Tuesday - Yup you read that right. Recipe club. Every time I tell someone I'm going to the recipe club I feel like I should put on some heels and bust out the jello mold. Anyways, I finish my curry chicken salad, and pack up the kids in the station wagonfor a good 'ole time. Come home and make a nice dinner for hubby.
Wednesday - More laundry on the line, kids left to their own mischief, and tea for the plumbers. Today was my day to make a meal for a mom that just had a baby. You know Moms helping moms. I made chicken tortilla soup and pack it up for a friendly neighbor visit. Come home in time to enjoy dinner with my family.
Thursday - Rained all day. Now in all the movies and books these 1950's housewives sent their kids outside to annoy the childless neighbors. Not ONCE do I remember seeing what they did on rainy days. So I improvised. They fought, cried and tore the house up. I cried, smoked (I couldn't get into character for this one, so I smoked out of their view), and put them in lots of time outs. Left overs for dinner.
Friday - I'm done with the 50's housewife thing. We HAD to get out. I left the water hose out in case the plumbers got thirsty, called my husband and told him we were going out for dinner and dropped the kids off at my mom's!

Dear Lord,

Church is the one hour a week you spend reflecting on how God's message of love has been incorporated into your life. We are supposed to focus on the teachings of the bible and with the help of the priest and his sermon, I'm supposed to learn how to live a good Catholic life and teach my children how to be good Catholic children. Sounds easy enough, right? Well throw in a two year old future talk show host and a one year old with the cry of a baby pterodactyl. Now we've got a whole congregation praying extra hard for the Lord to give them enough patience to not slip birth control into my coffee at the Meet and Greet after mass.
I figured out that mass with my kids was a joke very early on and I did what every sane Catholic mother does and put my kids in the free daycare provided by the church. Well, we hit panic mode today, when my husband walked back from the daycare room WITH the kids. Crap! How on God's green earth was I going to get two kids through a one hour mass??

Well I can't say we did it gracefully and not all of us made it, but we did get through the hour...

9:05a.m - Hubby shows up with kids in tote. Yeah mass does start at 9:00am.
9:07a.m. - We spot our family. Scoot ourselves through a pew and a half to get there all the while, M is waving to every person that has the pleasure of having my butt in their face and their feet crushed by my husband's size 11's. A is so excited to see her Mimi and Popo, you know because it's been 12 hours, that she shouts hello to my parents and my mother in law, then proceeds to tell them all of the wonderful things that happen in a two-year-old's life. You know, only the appropriate things for church like big poops.
9:15 a.m. - I think I heard the first reading. Maybe not. Kids spot the snacks in my purse. Pterodactyl boy screams and starts flapping his wings. I feed him.
9:16a.m. - Ahhh the minute of silence is over. A sees the snacks and wants some too. I give her a bag. She wants M's. I switch because M doesn't care and I want A to hush up. I know this won't work forever, but I'm going with it for now.
9:20 a.m. - Kids are still eating. woohoo. I'm so worried about them acting up that I can't even pay attention to the second reading when they ARE being quiet.
9:21 a.m. - Forget it I don't even know what he's talking about now. I start starring at the lady in front of me. She's pregnant with a little girl. Maybe 1 1/2. She's good. This lady has no clue how much harder two is.
9:25 a.m. - Yay we're singing. M is under the pew looking for the goldfish he dropped. I'm sure he's eating them off the floor. Don't care; he's quiet.
9:30 a.m. - Daddy is getting restless because A is crawling up and down the pew.
9:31a.m. - A's crying. Daddy takes her outside. DAMN I think he made her cry, just so he could leave.
9:38 a.m. - Collection basket is coming around. Damn I forgot to fill out the check. Martin tears out a page in the misselet. Damn! DAMN!! Write check out for $10 more that usual.
9:43 a.m. - My Dad takes M. I guess I look frazzled.
9:45 a.m. - More screeching. M is back with me.
9:49 a.m. - Little girl in front of me is acting up. YAY!
9:50 a.m. - Thank God, it time for the Eucharist. Mass is almost over.
9:51 a.m. - Walking back to my pew. See the wreckage from daycare being closed in many other faces.
9:52 a.m. - Pray.Peace. Forgiveness. M is hitting my head and laughing.
9:53a.m. - Daddy comes in and needs the keys. A had an accident.
9:57a.m. - Mass is over. Thinking about sneaking out before the Priests' procession. Stay and sing instead.
10:00am. - Walking out of the sanctuary. Douse M and me in holy water. Want to put some in his sippy.

So I have NO CLUE what today's mass was about, A and her daddy were only in church for 30 minutes and the only lesson I've passed on to my kids about church is that Mommy and Daddy will give them anything to be quiet including yummy snacks.

When the cat is away, the mouse will ....

feed the kids sandwiches for dinner, put them to bed early and lie down in her underwear with a glass of wine!!

So I guess you can tell that my husband is out of town. He's on a business trip and I hope he's enjoying his time alone, because when he gets home I'm taking two days off. I'm getting my nails done, going out with a girl friend and maybe some shopping. phffft Yeah, like that'll happen.

I was worried how I'd do with Hubby being gone and the kids missing him. Well I guess I was more worried about how I'd handle not having a break and how much I'd miss him. I'm doing better than I anticipated though. We have had two very normal days of swimming and playing but when 6pm rolls around, my eye starts twitching and then my heart aches a little. I know, cheesy, but I've slept next to this man for the last seven five years. It's lonely being in the bedroom without him. So, I'm keeping busy and I'll work on this bottle of wine tonight, in hopes that I'll fall asleep quickly.

Rules for nap time

This is for my husband.
I know you're not home for most of our nap times and I know that you really just want to play with the kids when you are home but nap time is a very sacred time here in our home. Well nap time is MORE than sacred. How can I make you understand? Nap time is sanity, it's peace and quiet, it's like a grown up time out. Think of it as your relaxing drive to work with coffee every morning, your shit breaks, your 30 minute break in the morning, your one hour lunch break, your afternoon coffee and cookie pick-me-up and your forty-five minute alone time in the car on your way home ALL rolled into ONE nap time that usually lasts one and a half hours for me. Maybe, if the house is clean and dinner is prepared. Maybe. So, to help us preserve nap time when you are home, here are the rules. YES rules!

  1. After you finish the nap time routine and toss the kids in bed. RUN!!! Shut the door as fast as you can and don't, I repeat DON'T look back.

  2. Turn the AC on. This creates white noise that will muffle any cries from the children. It also lowers their body temperature and I'm hoping it has the same effect as it would on reptiles.

  3. DO NOT make any noise. This includes the t.v., radio, ice machine, phone calls and flushing the toilet. Yes that means you just let it sit in the toilet for flushing at a later time.

  4. Turn all ringers off! For some insane reason, everyone in the entire world wants to call when the kids are sleeping and unless they are offering to come over and watch the kids while I go out, their call isn't important.

  5. Once the kids have been asleep for about twenty minutes you can choose an activity from the approved list below.

  • Watch t.v. The volume can NOT go abovet ten bars.

  • Computer time. Mouse clicks only the keyboard is too loud.

  • You can go back and flush the toilet now.

  • Read but nothing that will cause you to laugh out loud.

  • And of course, for you I will make an exception.... any INSIDE chore that tickles your fancy. Mowing the lawn is still and big fat NO.
My sweet, dear, husband I hope this little note will help you understand all the 'shh's' and glares you've received over the past few weekends. Here's to many happy and peaceful nap times.

Have you ever been MORE than tired?

I'm so exhausted that I not only don't want to do anything, but I want to undo some of the things that made me this tired. We had a busy weekend and worked on our landscaping a bit, but that wasn't the most exhausting part. It was chasing after my kids! I couldn't figure it out at first, because I chase them ALL WEEK, so how is it harder when my husband is home?? Ok so all of you moms who have a little more experience than me are laughing, huh?
After months, well hell, years of looking at a crappy front yard I decided enough was enough. On Saturday, I took my petty cash to Home Depot and just started throwing plants into baskets and on flat beds. I had no freakin' clue what I was doing, but I knew I needed dirt, plants that could survive on the sun and food for them. My freakish obsession with symmetry made it easier to estimate how many plants I would need, but that was the extent of my planning when I stepped foot into botanical bliss.

Six hours in 95 degree heat, two burgers from Annie's, two mini helpers (read:pests), and one big fat headache later, the yard looks great. And even if we can't keep the THIRD round of plants alive, we at least entertained the neighbors. A ran around half naked, like a wild child and M gave every passerbyer a huge smile with dirt-saliva dripping down his cheeks.

** Yeah so I was so tired that I started this on Monday and didn't finish it until Wednesday.

You CAN do it!!

So yeah, where were my "You can do it!" cheerleaders? It seems like everyone one around us is contracting out the smallest DIY projects in their homes nowadays. Now I know my husband and I aren't the handiest homeowners on the block, but come on people!! How about a little encouragement? We're not afraid to get too dirty and we ARE fairly intelligent people, so why can't we blow our own insulation???? ** Ok now that we've actually done this, I'm laughing at myself!***Well, bogged down with encouraging words Hubby and I somehow managed to get out the door and mingle with the handiest of the handy at Home Depot.

After five years of enjoying a 2000 sq. ft. sauna in the summer, Martin and I decided that this year, we would like to enjoy the 100+ temps OUTSIDE only. So we emerged ourselves in the wonderful world of insulation. Mucho dinero later we were off with our bundles of eco-friendly insulation and a machine that looked like that weird little robot from Teletubbies. Nunu??? yeah that show freaks me out too and so did the insulation blower.

So five hours later and LOTS of lessons learned, our house is insulated. And by house I mean the WHOLE HOUSE!!! The sofas, tables, floors, bedrooms, and yes even the kitchen sink. grrr. Well, mess aside, I really enjoyed our project last weekend. I love, LOVE seeing my husband do sweaty, manly things and I love the feeling of doing something difficult with my own hands.

The Money Pit

Dear Lord the freakin' AC is out. Lord help me have patience for stuff like this. It's so damn hot here in the summer that when the AC goes out you want to die. REALLY DIE!! And yes it's summer here already. High of 85 today. Lay down and die....
Ok so I'm usually the optimist in our family. My husband is the "prepare for the worst" person and I'm the "hope for the best" part of the equation. I'm running out of my part. We are just barely keeping up, because it's always something. Car $1200, water heater $500, stickers and inspection $200, and now the damn AC.
OK suck it up Crisa, because when you husband gets home you're going to hear about how the whole world has plotted to suck us dry and you're going to have to convince him that we aren't Anna and Walter in the "Money Pit."

Sick day

I woke up Monday morning after dancing all night with what felt like death and told my husband I was calling in sick today. The imaginary audience in our sitcom of a life, stood up and belly laughed in unison. SICK DAY!!!! haaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaa My husband just looked a little confused, kissed me on the forehead and was out the door. Damn can't a woman die alone in peace. I somehow managed to drag myself back to the sofa, when the door opened. Rays of heavenly light, fell on the head of my six foot, three knight and shining armor. He came back to save me. The angels flanked the doorway as my husband floated into the room on a cloud. Hallelujah.

He called his doctor (yes his because Lord knows that I would never take the time out to find my own doctor much less actually go) and made an appointment for me. A few hours later, I was sitting in the weirdest doctor's office I'd seen. Either that or my fever was so high I was hallucinating. Seriously it was like something out of an 80's movie about the future 2008. The walls were all bare and painted in these bright modern colors that were the furthest thing from warm and comforting. The receptionist desk was more like a fast food chain's ordering counter and I guess it was fitting, because there was a coffee shop IN THE OFFICE. Oh yeah and a shoe store display too! Commercialism at it's best; Get'em when they're too sick to know better. The nurse walked faster than any sick person could keep up with, the examination room was absent of any sign of personalization as well. I was left with my copy of Essence in what looked like a crazy person room to regret even coming to a doctor's office after what had been a really good six year drought.

Just when I thought I couldn't have regretted my decision any more, the doctor who had apparently just left the Mr. Universe competition, enters with his laptop. After being poked and prodded by Mr. Universe I was off with my prescription and hopefully on the road to recovery.

My knight and shining armor had to turn back into a pumpkin and go to work and then I was all alone with death and kids to care for. I somehow managed to muddle through the week without losing anyone, poisoning anyone or running away! woohoo. I did have to take a few shortcuts to be able to keep up this week, so here's a list of how I managed to keep on keepin' on!

Dishes - Didn't use them. Ate out or out of the containers. If I HAD to use a dish I actually hand washed it instead of unloading the dishwasher.

Floors - If I saw a really noticeable spot I cleaned it with the sock on my foot. I also let my two year old "play" with the Swiffer.

Laundry - Wash, dry, tell husband to fold, clothes get too wrinkled, rewash, re-dry.....

Cleaning - Of course I shoved, threw and stuffed things in to hiding places, but another little trick I picked up from a fellow mom. Spray some cleaner near the doors or wax a table with lemon scented cleaner so that if someone comes over the house smells clean!

Cooking - beep,beep,beep,beep,beep,beep,beep.... hello, I'd like to place an order for pickup.

Sometimes I look at my husband when he's busy reading or doing some mundane task and I think about how much our relationship has changed. I'm a practical person and when I fell in love with my husband I contemplated all aspects of our future together, not just love. Is he a decent person? Do we have the same morals? Would he protect me if aliens landed and tried to take over the world? Would he choose work over family? Will he love me forever? ... You know the run of the mill marriage interview questions. Now I look at him and I'm so glad that I chose him.

A few days ago my husband came home and Allie ran straight into his arms. She wrapped her little hands so tightly around his neck that you could see her little muscles flex without her shirt on. For the next 45 minutes she didn't let go. We have no idea what happened that day, or what she dreamt of during her nap that made her feel the need to cling to her daddy that afternoon. When she finally let go at dinner time, she looked happy and the world was right again.

Every day that passes I have the joy of witnessing my husband's relationship with his daughter. It brings back so many memories of my childhood and my relationship with my Dad. To a little girl, daddy is the bravest, strongest and smartest man that ever existed. His hugs heal your hurt, his smile dries your tears, his stern voice steers you in the right direction, and his hands can magically lift you higher than any bird could fly.

So to all the fathers of daughters out there, know this... YOU are the center of this little girl's world. You will shape her relationship with men for the rest of her life. You are responsible for the self-esteem and confidence she will bring to her relationships with boys. You are in charge of showing her how she deserves to be treated by other men, and what is and isn't acceptable. You are the only one in your family that knows how to protect and prepare your daughter for the years of love, and heartache she will encounter.

"Special" drawer

So things are starting to get back to normal. Well normal with a two year old and an almost walking 10 month old. This morning Martin and I were greeted by Tigger dressed as a little girl!! I love it! Then we discovered that little Miss ants in her pants decided to play detective in the wee hours of the morning and found our "special" drawer. So yeah now I've got to find a way to get an unnamed substance out of carpet. Now I ask you, is this the face of a mischievous child????

We made it!!!!

Tonight was our 5 year anniversary. We got all dressed up, dropped the kids off with my mom and dad and went out to a nice dinner. It was wonderful. I didn't realize how busy we've been since we had kids. Martin and I have been together for 10 years now and for the first 7 years of our relationship all we did was obsess over each other. Every fight, walk, kiss, look and touch felt like it lasted for an eternity. We could take the time to focus on why we were upset and how we were going to be more considerate of each other's feelings. Good Lord, I'm lucky if by the end of the day, I remember what, if or why Martin and I were fighting. We usually just pretend like it didn't happen, since neither one of us has the energy to argue or the memory to make valid points. Earlier this week, Martin and I called a truce, to forgive and forget, well just forgive each other for all the petty little fighting we've been doing. After our truce, we really needed to spend some time together reconnecting. So tonight was much needed.

In preparation for our big date, I finished up all my chores, took a long hot shower, did a mini facial, and pedicure. I was trying to bring sexy back, so I had on a cute little dress with my fancy leopard heels. I carefully applied my eyeshadow, just the way the MaryKay lady showed me and I even wore matching bra and panties!!!

When we got to the restaurant, The Melting Pot, Martin had a bouquet of flowers waiting for me at the table. We sat close to each other and talked and laughed and flirted like we did when we were dating. Well in my attempt to be all seductive, I gave the hostess at the restaurant a little more than she bargained for. She came to our table to take a picture for our anniversary, and this is what she saw......

yeah, so I guess you're not supposed to put nursing boobs in a regular bra!

Fantasy Land

So today I finally made it to the spa. My dear sweet husband bought me a day at the spa last year around this time and for some insane reason I just cashed it in. Well, I was big and pregnant and didn't want to waste a perfectly good massage on one of those fake "on your side pregnancy" massages. So, one more baby, 11 months of very little sleep and shove out the door later, I was off to my day of beauty.

I'm finally in my warm, comfy robe and slippers and I'm waiting in this serene room for my fairy spamother to come and take me to my massage. I open a book that I began to read while I was pregnant with my son and let out a deep sigh. ahhhh. A young woman walks in and I give her the polite southern nod and smile and then stick my nose back into my book. An older woman is carried off to her facial fantasy and massage and she is quickly replaced by another woman, who has the same look of dreamy bliss on her face. The trickling of the waterfall is in perfect sync with the relaxing music in the background and a smile spreads across my face. I can already feel the knots unraveling in my shoulders. .... car accident?....traumatized?? Dear Lord, what is the girl babbling about? I look around the room and I could see from the look on the other woman's face, that our one day of mother's fairytale bliss was going to be thwarted by the evil spa partner. This young girl had apparently just been in a car accident and was suffering from short term memory loss. Yeah just my luck. So for the next 5 hours I had the pleasure of sharing my lunch, manicure and pedicure with an older version of my two year old. Same stories over and over, can't follow what in the world she was saying, but I just nod my head and smile. I mean, she just came out of a car accident so I couldn't just tell her, "Um yeah, I know you just defeated death and are feeling lost and confused and are seeking out comfort, but PLEASE find someone else to unload on, because this is my ONE day off and I really don't feel like listening to your ramblings." Nope, couldn't say that, so I listen and nod and pray really hard that someone will come and rescue me. After awhile, I forget about my book and just decide to go with it, so we chat.

I'll spare you all the details of a 21 year old's life, and sum it up for you. Wreak, miracle that she's alive, more worried about car, wants another Mustang, wants Ninfa's instead of fancy spa grill food, best quality of boyfriend is money, talked to said boyfriend they whole day, AND doesn't want to breastfeed because of saggy boobs! Ha! I spared her the reality of her boobs changing whether or not she breastfed, I mean it was after all her spa day too.

Picture: Me when I 'young' and I obviously didn't ever think I'd be where I am now, then, OR I would have never posed for this picture!

Is it a sign????

So yeah, I was doing so great with the whole walking/jogging/trotting and then I got a sign from God yesterday...... As I was walking to the bathroom to clean yet another poop diaper, I ran into a chair. Now I'm sure if you are a normal person, you are asking "How in the world does a grown woman run into a chair, that she obviously knows is there because it's her house???" Well, it was early, I was up for 1 1/2 hours in the middle of the night to try and help my son learn to self soothe, I had no contacts on yet and most importantly I hadn't had my coffee. So in my delirious state, and being over eager to get poop out of my hand, I made too wide of a turn. Like so many other things in my life, the chair refused to budge, so my toe did instead. A swollen foot, call to my hubby, trip to the doctor's for an x-ray and two hours later.... my toe is broken!!! But that's not the good news..... We can't do anything for it but tape it and I get to heal med-free, because I'm nursing!!! Yippee

Now just when I was beginning to enjoy torturing my body with 2 mile walking/jogging trips, I'm going to have to put them on hold. I guess it's for the best, because 1 1/2 years ago when I attempted this whole 'getting fit' thing, I ended up pregnant because I was so hot, my husband couldn't resist me. hee

Busy, busy, busy

Dear Lord it's been a busy few weeks. My son was baptized and the holiday of all holidays......... Halloween!!!!!
The baptism went as great as it could have gone with all the problems we had. First of all the cake was delivered to my house in pitiful conditions. It really looked like a really old person, without their bifocals and ANY cake decorating experience, scribbled my son's WRONG initials in his cake and then threw a hair in there and said, "Here ya go!" So I ranted a little and sent it back. Then as we were getting ready to go to the church, I'm finishing up my hair and running the last few things on my To Do List through my mind, when I say to myself....."What's it going to be this time? Something big ALWAYS goes wrong, what this time? The last thing on my list is to grab the birth certificate. THAT'S IT..... I won't be able to find the birth certificate and he won't be able to go through the ceremony, and all these people are going to be at the church and.... Just then, my husband walks into the living room as I'm getting the kids out and says, "Which shoes am I going to wear with this?" WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT???
Now back up a week or two. I asked him to pull out his suit, try it on to make sure it fit and I was going to take it to the cleaners. Why it never occurred to him to make sure he had shoes, is beyond me, but here we were. The exact minute that we had to leave to be on time and my husband has a pair of brown shoes to go with his black suit. Now here's the real shocker. I didn't stress over it. I told him to figure it out. Now in the past I would have stressed and it would have ruined my day, but he could have shown up in flip flops and I really wouldn't care. But you can't wear flip flops after Labor Day right? So, he called him mom and she brought him some black shoes to the Church and as he was going to put them on.......... yup the shoe lace broke. hee hee Just one of those days. Oh yeah, and our brisket never got smoked, so we had to buy it by the pound and a lot of friends and family never showed up to eat it! But all in all, like I said a great time was had.

Halloween was great. We rushed through pumpkin patch, carving pumpkins, and costumes, but I'll arrange the pictures to tell a different story. We had a great time with great friends, but good Lord this is a crazy day that I can only see getting more hectic. It was a 'no nap' day, which if you have small child, you know is equivalent to a mental breakdown day for mommy. Allie couldn't even lay still because of her sugar rush from our daytime trick-or-treating. So we just pushed through, hoping that the sugar would carry her to bedtime and mask how tired she was. Martin and I just kept pumping her up with candy to make it through the party and trick-or-treating. Fun.

Am I a Grown-Up Yet?

Ok so I rented a movie on Tuesday, it's Friday and I still haven't seen it! I remember my Mom doing this my whole life. She never watched a show all the way through. I don't think she's seen a comercial since 1980, because those were her mini-marathons when she folded the laundry, straightened up the kitchen, scrubed something or just got up to run around in cirlces because she simply couldn't sit that long. The same senerio plays out during all meal times as well. Mom is the last one to sit down and all through the meal she jumps out of her seat 10 seconds before you can think of what you need. Why do we do this?

Today I was watching one of the few shows I actually sit down to watch and I think I got up about 10 times... Wipe the counters, put away the pumpkin bread, check on the kids, fold the towels, reload the washer and dryer, bring the cat in, finish loading the dishwasher and starting it, clean up the bathroom one last time.... yup that was 8 times, about the amount of commercial breaks in a one hour show.

So I am my mother. I knew the day would come when I'd have to admit it and it's here. As her child, I just wanted her to sit and enjoy the movie or meal with us instead of fussin' around. We wanted her company. As a mother, I just want everything to run smooth without my whole 'process' falling to bits. I want to fulfill my family's needs. I don't mind becoming my Mother so much though, because my Mom is a wonderful Mom and now that I'm behind the scenes running my own production, I can truly appreciate everything she did for us. The movie can wait a few more years.
